Now’s the time to put your travel itineraries together – so here are some of our favourite ideas for family-friendly activities once you reach the tropical paradise that is Barbados.
The Barbados Sea Turtle Project
This was first started back in 1987 to help further conservation of sea turtles in Barbados. If you go in the winter, you can actually help release lots of little turtle hatchlings, which would be absolutely magical for your little ones.
Visit the giant Baobab Tree
If you make your way to Queen’s Park you’ll find the incredible Baobab tree, which is one of the biggest trees to be found on the island. It’s so big that it would take around 15 people to stretch their arms around the trunk!
Atlantis Submarines Barbados Tours
What could be more entertaining than going beneath the waves on your Barbados holiday? There are day and night dives where you can head out into the deep in a submarine, seeing fish, visiting shipwrecks and diving to depths of 150ft. Night dives are very different to daytime ones, so think about the kind of fish you’d like to see!
Beach visits
There are countless beaches in Barbados so make sure you visit as many of them as you can! Dover Beach is a stunning place to go and it never really gets that busy so perfect if you’re looking to stay away from other tourists, or you could pop off to Bathsheba, which is very different. Not the best place for swimming, but the rock formations are really interesting and your kids will have a great time exploring.
The Boatyard, Bridgetown
This is an absolute must-do if you have kids with you on holiday. The beach has so much to offer, including jet skis, banana boat rides, glass bottom boat tours and even an ocean trampoline. If you want your children to be completely tuckered out after the day is done so you can have a grown-up evening on your own, this would be a brilliant choice of destination!
